A weird subway entrance, looking like a train bursting through the sidewalk from below, is located in Frankfurt. Architect Zbiginiew Peter Pininski reported he felt inspired by surrealist artist René Magritte when creating this [neuer-weg.com]. Some other stations have interesting designs as well [vgf-ffm.de (PDF)].

Try the following tour, recommended by residents or metro enthusiasts:
Ride line U6/U7 from Hauptwache to Kirchplatz for its stations. Walk outside Bockenheimer Warte station and find the entrance that resembles a metro train that broke through the sidewalk from below.
No sound, each set of doors has sensors and closes when no one is between them. If there's someone between the doors, the driver can activate an automated announcement "Bitte zurücktreten" ("Please step back"). Next-station announcements are pre-recorded in German, for some stations in the central area in English too.
