2017 – Downtown Line from Chinatown to Expo. 21 km, 16 stations. 27 Dec 2015 – Downtown Line from Bugis to Bukit Panjang. 16.6 km, 12 stations. 22 Dec 2013 – Downtown Line (driverless) from Bugis to Chinatown. New line, 4.3 km, 6 stations.
The MRT has very clean stations, mostly with simple, modern designs. Newer stations have interesting architecture and works of art.

Many stations are designed to reflect Singapore's reputation as a Garden City. Some underground stations are decorated with flowering orchids, tropical palms, or shrubs (e.g. City Hall, Raffles Place). On the North-East Line, which was inaugurated in 2003, all stations have individual architecture, and works of art have been integrated in every station [app-stg.lta.gov.sg]. The same holds true for the new Downtown Line.

Land Transport Gallery. This museum focuses on the land transport history and integrated urban planning in the city state, part of it dedicated to MRT development. Sections include world's cities, Singapore's transport history, formative years, today's land transport master plan, and visions. In a "Challenge Theatre", visitors can join an interactive multi-player transport planning game. Since 2008. Location: Within the premises of the LTA. Isolated circle - Punggol LRT - 10.3 km - 15 stations - opened 2000 - completed 2005 - People mover above ground. Isolated circle - Sengkang LRT - 10.7 km - 14 stations - opened 1998 - completed 2003 - 8-shaped people mover above ground. Pan-shaped loop - Bukit Panjang LRT - 7.8 km - 13 stations - completed 1999. Ring under construction - Circle Line - 37.3 km - 30 stations - opened 2009 - to be completed 2025 - driverless. Spiral - Downtown Line - 6.5 km - 8 stations - opened 2013 - completed 2017 - The downtown spiral with 8 stations in the middle of a 34-stations line without transfer is unique in layout.
Announcements differ. Lines operated by SMRT: "Doors are closing", followed by about 15 ultra-short beeps (amr). "Next station, [name]", station announcements "[Name], [name]". At underground stations: "Please mind the platform gap". Lines operated by SBS Transit: "Doors closing", followed by short beeps. "Next station [English name], [Chinese name].
